Hi: Cooper, recently received an application from the EJite Sand asking for permission to play a programme oi sacred music in the Victoria Square Rotunda on Sunday next. Owing to the discussion which the question, of ( Sunday band concerts had recently aroused, Mr Cooper did not feel justified in granting permission without consulting his colleagues on the Council. The replies received from Council'" lors to-day were favourable to permission, being granted, and the Deputy-; Mayor has accordingly acceded to the request, on the condition that no collection is to be taken up. A meeting of the Show Committee of the Canterbury Kennel Club was held" last evening, when final arrangements for the coming show were reported by the secretary to be well in hand.
