The whole of the Kootenay country from the railway lines is a seething mass of flames. The ruins of Fe-rnie are smoulderixlgj and threaten Michel, around whifch the bush o fires are racing. Tho Kootenay Valley mining smelting operations are crippled, and 10,000 people are without work. Unless help i 6 forthcoming many children musb die. One thousand dollars axe being subscribed by Canada and the United States.
