THE BRITISH TEAM. MATCH AGAINST NEW SOUTH WALES. Unit«<i Pma .Association— By Electrio Telegraph — Copyright SYDNEY, August 5. The match between tho British team and a. New South Wales fifteen was played in mud inches deep, with occasional heavy rain squalls throughout the afternoon. After the first few minutes it was almost impossible to distinguish one team from the other. The British forwards packed splendidly, and came through tne local men like a we<lge. Halfway through the first spell the ball was kicked over the line, and Morgan, racing several local men, dived on the ball, and secured a try. Theangle was .difficult, anu Harding failed to add the extra points. The Britishers were too powerful in the scrums for the New South Welshmen, and. continuously broke through. Only twice did the local men in iihe first half ' approach close to the British line. In the second spell the .game was stubborn. The New South Wales backs saved their sitle frequently. There wa6 an exciting moment when the visitors were penalised right in front of their goal, but Bede Smith made a poor kick, and New South Wales had no further chance to score, Britain winning by three points to nil.
