' The chairman of directors of the Broken Hill Proprietary, referring to the low prices of lead, said it was impossible to naukfcr both c-iids meet with lead below £13 15s per ton. It was pretty evident, on the present outlook, that the whole of the 12-| per cert increase on wages granted when lead was £1S per ton would have to come off. and, if the men were not agreeable, there was nothing for it but to close down the mine. j
