FURNITURE TRADE UNION.
The following report of the executive "of the Furniture Trade Union was adopted at a general meeting of the members of the Union last night: — Two special meetings of the executive have been held for the purpose of discussing the proposed Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Bill, and after an exhaustive discussion the executive bogs to make the following recommendations : — (1) That sub-section 1 Section 3be altered so that the proposed definition of a strike, namely, the act of any number of workerß, be altered so as to define a strike as the concerted action of all the employees of any one or more industrial establishments. (2) That Section 4 be altered so that the proposed definition of a lock-out as tbe concerted artion of a number of employers, be altered so that a lock-out shall be denned ns tbe notion of one or more employers. (3) T^at sub-section 1, Section 5 be altered so that strike penalties gball not apply in those industries where no award or, industrial agreement is in force. (4) Th?t sub-section 4. Section 6. holding an industrial union responsible for the action ot a majority of its members, .whether or not surli action is approved at a union meeting, be ; do'etod.
