[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 24. Tho Wellington branch of the Civil Service Association has decided to support the executive's recommendation of Mr H. W. Bishop. B.M. (Christchurch) and Mr H. It. Spenco (Auckland) for election to the Superannuation Board, the vote for the third candidate hoing left to tho discretion of branch members. Arthur Joseph Wicks, musician, who was brought back from Sydney yesterday by Detective Lewis, was before the Magistrate's Court to-day, charged with having issued several valueless cheques. The police stated that the amount involved, was £40. Accused was remanded till Wednesday. Bail was allowed. TIMARXJ, June 25. Mr J. M. Twomey, ex-M.L.C, has offered to supply the labour leaders of Christchurch and Dunedin with what he says would make the Labour Party the most popular political organisation in the dominion. While it would do good to the workers, it would injure nobody. The labour leaders of both cities have declined the offer on the ground that My Twomey's proposals might be in conflict with some of their long-cherished ideas. Yesterday Mr Twomey challenged Tom Mann to debate the question of Socialism, the object being to give workers a better j platform, but Maun declined to take ' "up the challenge.
