Mr G. Witty, M.P., will address his tonstituents at Papanui on Friday •/une 12. A third edition of the "Star" will be published at six o'clock this evening, giving the result of the BritishSouthland football match, the latest facing returns from various parts of the dominion, and the results of local footpall and hockey fixtures. The Minister of Labour ■states that •while he refused to grant a further month's extension to the "olds Canterbury Conciliation Board regarding the farm labourers' dispute, Mr Tregear Avas advised to allow another week's extension for the Board to complete its report if an application was made iv .hat direction. An attractive programme was very well rendered. It comprised songs by Miss Gaardor and Patterson, a 'violin solo by Miss Hamilton, bassoon solo by Mr G. Turkey, euphonium solo by Mr A. Martin, k-ecitations by Mr Bailey and a number bf concerted pieces by the orchestra. )Dn the proposition of Mr G. It was incorrectly reported yesterday that Miss Vera Huggett, of " The Prince Chap" Company, had broken her arm. The little actress was really suffering only from a petty dislocation of her arm, 'which in no way affected hor playing. Russell, took the opportunity oi presenting three medals awarded to Christchurch students as the result oi 'last year's music examination.* of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music. A gold medal was given to Mis* Florence Hercus for the advanced grade in music, and" a silver medal foi the intermediate grade pianoforte, the marks gained totalling 137 out of a possible 150. A silver medal in the i same grade was also given to Miss Mary j Gould, who had passed with the .same i number of marks. Both pupils, /Mr I Russell said, were under the tuition oi j Mrs Young.
