TIMARU.

[Pek Press Association.] TIMARU, April 29. The mayoral election took place today, the contest being between Mr J. J. Craigie, the 1 retiring Mayor, and Mr T. Hawkey, a member of the Borough Council. The interest 6hown was much keener than it has been for some years. The result was the return of Mr Craigie, who polled 775 votes to Mr Hawkey's 295 votes, the poll being, the heaviest on record.
