LAND SETTLEMENT.

[Per Bress Association.! AUCKLAND, April 29. A large number of applications were received at the Crown Lands Office today for allotments opened for selection, principally under the optional tenures. There are about 14,400 acres to be balloted for in the Monganui, Hokianga and Whangarei districts. A large number of applicants came from the south, chiefly from Wellington and Taranaki districts.
