The New Zealand team met the South Melbourne Club at South Melbourne, j The weather was fine, the attendance laTge, and the green in excellent order. The following are the scores, the New Zealand players being placed first : — Martin, Gee, Coltman and GoldGtein (s), 25 ; South Melbourne 27. i The New Zealanders scored at 11 ends, scoring turee threes. Brood,- Bastings, Bentley and Scbulkr (s), 35; South Melbourne 22. South Melbourne scored one eix, but thenceforth their highest score was two- The New Zealanders scored consistently with several fives and fours. Wallace, M'Gibbon, Hain and Findlay (s), 26 ; South Melbourne 17, Neave, Gibson, Smith and Waddell (s), 32 ; South Melbourne 22. Stubberfield, Manning, Chegwin and Bishop (e), 16 ; South Melbourne 32. Thompson, Bunting, Johnston and Allnutt (s), 32 ; South Melbourne 19. Slatter, an ex-champion, was skip of the last local rink. The totals were :— New Zealand, 162 ; South Melbourne, 139. The gam»s were ended under electrio light, a novelty which appealed to the New Zealanders. Before play was commenced the visitors were welcomed by Mr Skinner, president of the local club, and cheers were exchanged. At th© four o'clock adjournment, Mr Skinner again cordially weloomed the visitors on behalf of local cricket, football and bowling clubs. Mr Stranguard, the Mayor, on behalf of the citizens, made felicitous references, which were reciprocated by Messrs Waddell and Allnutt, who also referred to the charming and picturesque green. A few of the New Zealanders played a scratch match under the electric light, the local ladies joining the ranks. The New Zealanders will leave for Adelaide to-morrow.
