A painfully sudden, death occurred at the Waverley Hotel, Palmerston, on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Stubberfield, a Christchurch lady, had been spending a few weeks' holiday with Mrs M'Donald, and up to Tuesday la6t she had apparently been in the best of health. On Wednesday morning she complained of a pain in the region of the heart, and shortly after 1 p.m., while engaged in sewing, she suddenly fell forward and expired almost immediately. Dr Hislop was at onoe sent for, and pronounced life to be extinct. Mrs Stubberfield, who was about fifty years of age, is survived by her husband (Mr J. L. Stubberneid, a well-known. Christchurch builder), and family of four sons and three daughters. The deceased lady had made many friends during her short 6tay in Pulmereton, and much sympathy has been, expressed for the bereaved family. • An inquest -was held at the Waverley Hotel, before Mr E. H. Clark, J.P., ( Acting-coroner. Dr Hislop said he had l examined the. body, and was of opinion that death was due to heart disease. The jury, without retiring, brought in a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony.
