Mr Paulin's weather forecast to-day ftra& as follows: — Heavy north-east gales and rain over most portions of. Canterbury, and electrical weather. The Methven correspondent of the •'Star" writes: — After an exceptionally long spell of dry weather nain began to fall yesterday at 9 a.m., and Continued throughout the day until nearly midnight, it will be very welcome in this district, as, unlike the lighter lands Bearer Ashburton, the crops are looking well, and the lain stame at a very opportune moment.
