Correspondence was read pn the subject of the proposed allocation of the maintenance of the Heathcote Bridge, f and it was resolved " That this B'oai-d' objects to the proposed allocation pf cost of ' maintenance df Heathcote Bridge whereby it would.be required to pay 40 per Peni, the remaining post being divided between four ' other ' local bodies. -It is of the opinion that the proportion fixed by the Government commission, after a full exhaustive inquiry into the responsibilities of the various local bodies > in respect to the niist oost of the bridge, which was at the rate of 25 per cent, is even too large, seeing that the wear arid tear to the roadway by the Board's traffic iis nil, while the rails are maintained by the Board itself."
