George M'Chesney, William Samson, Frederick George Stevenson and Francis Webb were charged yesterday with having,' on November 17, in the New River estuary, netted trout without a license, contrary to the . provisions of the Fisheries Conservation Act, and this year's amendments. Ranger friend had watched the men out floundering, and had detected them taking two trout, which wore subsequently lound in the boat. M'Chesney said that he alone handled the trout, and that the others had nothing to do with it. He was convicted and fined £5, with £2 9s costs. The informations against the others were dismissed. Costs of ( 10s each were allowed to Webb and Samson, two lad®. A second charge was adjourned till after the holidays. It alleges the use of a eeine net within a radius of half a mile seaward from the mouth of the stream, contrary to the Act.
