4-r THE ENGLISH TEAM. - MATCH AGAINST NEW SOUTH WALES. United Press As-oc-ataon — By EWotrio Telegraph— Copsnrignt. '' j SYDNEY,, November 22. The weather was fine^ and a strong, breeze was blowing when the match commenced to-day. The wicket was hard. Hutchings gave <a nice exhibition, though he was somewhat lucky. Johnson, bowling capitally', struck his length early and there was very slow play till Rhodes and Hardstaff became associated with four wickets down for 118. The new partnership carried the total to 207. Both batsmen succumbed in rapid, succession. Barnes , and Crawford were uncomfortable against Cotter, who got a terrific" page on. At 233 Crawford was dismissed by Hopkins for 17, seven wickets having fallen for the total mentioned. Play then became very tedious, Barnes -and Humphries stonewalling. When Humphries was dismissed Blythe and Barnes pursued -tfmilar tactics and crept 6lowly into double figures. A brilliant catch by Noble, at point, disposed of Barnes. Fielder, last man, played out time. Following are the scores : — EN<__-ANI>: First Innings.
