Saturday, November 23. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness. — A first offender was fined ss, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Theft. — Edward Higgins, a youth, was charged with the theft of two saws and one plane, valued at 21s 6d, the property of E. Wilson. The accused pleaded guilty. Sergeant Johnstone said that the lad was convicted of theft in May last year, and was committed to the Burnham Industrial School, from which institution he had been licensed out to a situation. His Worship convicted the accused and ordered his return to Burnham.

A Wife's Forgiveness. — Ernest Corley was charged with deserting his wife at Dunedin. Sergeant Johnston said that complaint had been made by the defendant's wife, but that she had recently written withdrawing her complaint. The case was dismissed.
