Briand has introduced in the Chamber of Deputies a Bill to transfer to the Communes for the /benefit of the pooTj all ecclesiastical property unclaimed by Public Worship Associations. The Bill is intended to stop twenty thousand law suits initiated by relatives of the original donors of the foundations. RESIGNATION OF AN ARCHBISHOP. (Received November 1, 8.45 a.m.) PARIS, October 31. Dr Lacroix, the -well-known Archbishop of Tarentaise, has resigned, as a protest against the Pope's encyclical letter on modernism.
