.*. . Sir James Mills is to be entertained by the citizens of Dunedin at dinner during the second week in November. The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Payling) is out of town, and will be away to-morrow. Mr G-. D. Beatson arrived from Ilawko'sßay this morning. Mr and Mrs O. D. Parlin left for th© south this morning. Lieutenant Sandle, R.N.Z.A., who has been attending the- field artilleiy instruction course at Trentham, returned to Lyttelton this morning by the s.s. Mararoa.. Mr R. H. Turton. barrister and solicitor at Invercargill, has accepted a position as Stipendiary Magistrate at Oamaru. He holds an LL.B. degree, and served with Mr Allan Holmes, cf Dunedin. and was for some years manager for Mr J. F. M. Fraser,
