[Peb Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 3. The Crown lands taken up in rhe Auckland province last month totalled 43,218 acres. The number of selectors was 108, and the average holding 400 acres. The rainfall in Auckland for August was 6.44m, being 2.22in above the average of tho previous forty years. The only instance of a greater rainfall recorded for August was in 1870, when the extraordinary total of 10.56in was registered. The Waiotahi return for August is £9741 13s sd, from 619 tons of ore. NEW PLYMOUTH, September 3. A cable received by the local agents of a well-known London produce firm states that prices for dairy produce have now touched their lowest. The prospects for the coming season for butter and cheese are very good . Tho Customs revenue for August was £3795. compared with £2513 in August 1906. WELLINGTON, September 3. k A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Accounts nta' and Auditors' Association opened in Wellington today, and was attended by delegates from all parts of the colony. The Council is considering in camera matters relating to the interests of the profession. Strong exception was taken to the action of the New Zealand Institute of Accountants in endeavouring to appropriate to itself the designation of "incorporated accountant," which hitherto had been recognised as the special designation of the English Society of Accountants and Auditors.
