The retail section, of the Employers' Association lifes decided to abandon, the idea of fixing the compulsory closing • hours for shops Within the Greater Dun- "i edin area, it being regarded as impracticable owing to the faulty drafting of Section 21 of the Shops ana .Offices Act, which would necessitate signing separate requisitions for each hour of closing and the securing of a majority fpr each requisition. The miatter has been referred to the Employers' Federation x>f Otago. The Employers' Association -vill be represented at the annual meeting of the Federation at Wellington on Wednesday next by Mr J. C. Thomeon, Mr Chieholm, Mr Henton and Mr William Scott.
