CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. 0 i — — ■ ■ SECOND DAY. The Grand National Meeting* will be continued nt Riccarton to-morrow. The principal event on the programme, the Grand Na-' tional Hurdle Race, promises to attract a very large field. Paritutu, whose credentials on the flat nre superior to those of the other horses engaged, is the popular fancy, though there i 3 considerable doubt as to his jumping ability, ns this will be his first start in a hurdle race. Apart from Paritutu, the field contains quite a large number of horses with good credentials as hurdlers, among those in this category being Cuiragno, Lady Hune, Creusot, Landlock, Shrapnel, Ben Jonson, Merriwai, Ability and Lull. Of tho fresh aspirants for jumping honours Idasa is ie- I garded as the most likely. Those named should alone suffice to ensure a good i con- I test, while among the remainder are several i horses that may cause a surprise.
