AN INFURIATED SOLDIERY.

A BAYONET CHARGE. BOMBARDMENT BY j PAVING STONES. j WOMEN IN THE MELEE. I LAPFULS OF STONES. TROOPS BEATEN BACK. United Press Association — By Electric TelegTapli — Copyright. (Received August 14, 7.47 a.m.)« LONDON, August 13. Further details of the riots at Belfast are to tlie effect that for hours the sol•diers and constables were subjected to a bombardment of paving-stones and other missiles from 2000 to 3000, frenzied people. The women carried their aprons full of stones and other missiles, and Irom the upper windows joined in the fray. The troops, pursuing the rioters, used the butt-ends of their rifles. From the houses men hurled stones, and, showers came back, thrown by the troops. Mobs of maddened men and .women were rushing in all directions cursing the military. Captain Welsh, the Military Magistrate, called upon the crowd to disperse, but stones and groans were the only reteponse. Eventually the order was given to the troops to fire. The "Times and "Telegraph 5 ' agree that the soldiery themselves, many of whom were wounded, became infuriated, and charged down the streets with fixed bayonets, yelling. No sooner had the cavalry cleared the thoroughfares than the mobs returned, or surged up and down the e-ide streets, where the tactics were repeated. When 3000 maddened people were in poeses-sion of Falk Road, the soldiers and the mob were fighting hand to hand, and the troops were" driven back.
