FATAL ACCIDENT.
INQUEST THIS EVENING. An inquest will be held at the Morgue at 7.30 o'clock tibis evening on the body of Douglas Young, the engine-driver who was killed at^ the Christ church railway yards last night. Young was m charge oi an engine which was running some trucks down the yards near the Colombo Street crossing, when he ran diagonally into three tracks which were standing upon an adjacent sidintr The engine just failed to clear the' trucks, and Young put on the brakes and, for conic unknown reason, jumped off tlie engine, and was cruslied between it and the stationary trucks. The coupling of the engine broke arid it was subsequently pulled up by the fireman, wiho stuck to iiws post. Young was badJy crushed about the chest and was <I©ad wliem he wa s picked up.
