SUICIDE OF A WELL-KNOWN DOCTOR. [Pee Pbess Association.] AUCKLAND, Juno 12. Benjamin Rowsell, a man about for-ty-two years old, committed suicide last night. He was a medical man, and was held in ihigh esteem by a, large circle of friends, to whom his tragic death has caused a great shock. He had been travelling in the South Island, more especially with, a view to the study of elephantiasis. Ho had ben in Auckland for the past eighteen months. He was especially well known as secretary of the St George's Rowing Club. The proprietor of the Commercial Hotel, with whom Dr Rowsell had been staying, received a letter this morning stating that hie body could be found either in St Stephen's Cemetery, Parnell, or at Orakei, and asking the proprietor to communicate with the police. Dr Rowsell's body was found at the Parnell Cemetery. Dr Rowsell apparently committed suicide by poisoning. It is understood that he had been embarrassed in money matte re.
