CHRISTCHURCH FIRE BOARD.
A meeting of the Christchurch Fire Board was held last evening; present — Messrs J. D. Hall (chairman), J. F. Grierson, W. D. Meares, C. Allison, C. J. Cooper and H. R. Rusbridge. It was decided that the meetings of the j Board should be held fortnightly on alternate Tuesdays, or such other times as might be agreed on. Mr E. J. Righton was appointed secretary to tho Board. A sub-committee was set up to , confer with the City Council, with a ! view to making suitable arrangements for horses, and to confer with the Council's men to act as drivers, also with respect to taking over the plant on July 1. It was decided to ask the City Council to supply an official inventory of the plant and appliances as provided for by the Act, and Mr . George Croll was appointed valuer on behalf of the Board. The matter of estimates of expenditure was deferred until next meeting. The chairman was empowered to obtain legal advice a 6 to the interpretation of the Act, and in reference to the contributions from interested bodies. The secretary was instructed to obtain a suitable design for a seal for the Board. The desirableness of j having a conference with tho chairmen or representatives of other Fire Boards in the colony was discussed, and it was decided to communicate with the principal centres to endeavour to arrange a conference in Christ-church at an early date, when the necessary amendments to tne Act and uniform regulations could be agreed on.
