THE DISMANTLING PROCESS.
Bare patches are appearing in many directions as stalls and fittings disappear, and the end is coming much nearer in sight. The grounds are now visible right to the edge of the river from the Armagh Street Bridge to the dam, the_ fences enclosing the cycle stand having been, removed. A commencement was made this morning to remove the dam, and by noon two feet of it had been taken away. The water is said to have come down with a rush, being appreciably deeper in tie city, but, as the distance from the dam to Antigua Street is a mile, the depth oould not have been very noticeable. The whole of the dam will wrobably be removed to-day and the piles drawn to-morrow. The lowering of the level above the dam resulted in the laying bare of mud banks and a great deal of weeds and debris. An •enormous quantity of loose weeds were also lodged on the dam, and it is considered that the clearing of the river will be a heavy task.
