DUNEDIN.

[From Ottr Correspondent!] DUNEDIN, April 24. The civic campaign is being conducted with the greatest vigour. Mr Loudon, one of the candidates for the Mayoralty, indignantly protests in the "Daily Times'! against what he terms " a grossly unfair attack and covert innuendoes, made in an article in last evening's " Star," concerning his canI didature, and publishes a note signed by the Mayor and practically the whole of the Council, testifying to his unswerving integrity in all matters, whether public or private. Mr Loudon is the favourite candidate, but Mr Gore will poll a large silent vote, and the result is. uncertain. In Mornington and North-east Valley, unusual healthy activity has been imported into the campaign.
