Letter mails close for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations : — Mails per Express to Dunedin and South close daily at 7 a.m. and 11.10 a.m. ; Into fee (i.e., letters bearing Id additional stamp). 11.25 a.m.; also mail van up to 8 a.m. and 11.55 a.m. Books and newspapers, 7 a.m. and 10.10 a.m. TUESDAY, JANUARY 22. For, Akaroa, per Cygnet, at 12.30 p.m.; late fee, 12.45 p.m.; guard's van. 1.25 p.m. train. For Northern Pcrts and Westport, per Mararoa, at 4.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 4.30 p.m. ; guard's van, 5.25 p.m. train. For United Kingdom, via Monte Video and Bristol, per Sussex (due London March 14), specially addressed only, at 6 a.m. ; late fee letters, guard's van, 7.20 a.m. train. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23. For Northern Ports and Westpor.t, per Rotomahana, at 4.15 p.m. ; late fee letters, 4.30 p.m.: guard's van, 5.25 p.m. train. . f FRIDAY,. JANUARY 25. For ' Australian States, etc. (due Sydney January 30), and South Africa, also. Northern Ports and Weßtport, per Maheno, at 3 p.m. ; late fee letters, 3.15 p.m. ; guard's .van, 4 p.m. train. Thd next mail from the United Kingdom is due in Christohurch on January 21, via San Francisco. Mails for the United Kingdom, etc., despatched from Christchurch on December 6, via Brindisi, arrived in London on January 12, due date. The next best despatch for the ' United! Kingdom, etc., is via San Francisco, leaving Christchurch on January 29, and is due in London on March 2. Mails for the Chatham Islands close at Lyttelton on February 1. J. F.
