COURSING.

« The August meeting of the Canterbury Coursing Club, which •will be beld on Monday and Tuesday next, promises -to be tho most successful 'gathering of its kind ever held in this province. Large fields are engaged in each of the events, amongst tho competitors in the National Cup being such good performers as Caleb Fry, Noble Lady, Pick-me-up, Feu-de-joie, Sockburn, Street Arab, Dawn After Dwrk and Laburnum. No fewer than thirty are engaged in the Maiden Slake, which promises to be a fine contest. Coursing wiM start on Monday at 1 p.m., and a special train will leave- for Plumpton at twelve o'clock.
