ADDINGTON YARDS.

THIS DAT. [Per the " Star's " Pigeon Express.] Supplies were smaller than at recent markets, owing to the wintry weather. There was a fair attendance. Fat Cattle. — The yarding consisted of 197 head, the general quality being good. There was a good demand for all descriptions, and for prime beef previous values were fully maintained, while for secondary and inferior qualities there was particularly active competition, and prices advanced 5s to 10s a head. Steers sold at £6 15s to £12 15s, heifers £5 to £9 2s 6d, and cows £4 5e to £7 7s 6d, being at the rate of 22s $d to 25s per 1001 b for good to prime beef, 20s to 22s for medium and 18s to 20s for inferior. For W. F. M. Buckley (Hoon Hay), 9 steers sold at £9 2s 6d to £10 15s; H. C. M'lntcsh (Kaiapoi), 7 steers at £7 15s to £8 17a 6d; W. A. and C. S. Parnbam (Kaiapoi), 8 steers at £8 2s 6d to £8 15s j J. O. Coop (Little River), 8 steers at £6 15s to £8 10s. Fat Calves. — A fair entry was keenly competed for, and high prices were realised, ranging from 7s. 6d to 755. Stoke CattiiE. — Two large lines of good l grazing cattle gave more importance to tlhis department than for a long time past, and buyers were well represented. The two lines mentioned were sold' privately, and other business was unimportant. Fat Sheep. — The sale opened with a very strong tone. Fat Lambs. — About 2000 were penned, the quality varying from very prime to very backward. .There was good competition throughout, a buyer who had not yet operated this season pafrticdpating strongly. There is, however, no advance in the price of skins this miotnth, and values of lambs were unchanged from those of last week. Fair to prime freezers sold at 18s to 21s, extra to 24s Bd, light a-nd secondairy 15s 2d to 17s 6d. Store Sheep and Lambs. — The entry consisted of about 2000. and. all descriptions sold at improved values. Fourtooth and two-tootht ewes sold at 26s Bd, aged at 17a, forward two and four-tooth wethers at 21e Id,. 19s 8d and 19s 6d; forward lambs at 14a to 15s 3d, others 12s 7d. Pigs. — A small entry was keenly competed for, and there was a general advance in prices. Baconers were of good quality, and sold at 35s to 45s for light, and up to 62s for heavier, equal to an average of 3fd per Ibj porkers 27s to 355, or 4id to 4|d; large stores 15s to 23sj medium 10s to 14s 6d, small a poor sale at 8s to 55.:
