■♦-: THIS DAY. [Per the "Star's" Pigeon Exfksss.] There were good entries, and a fair attendance, notwithstaoding the wet ' day. Fat Cattle. — The yarding consisted of 235 head, of about an average selection. The market wae weaker, but prime beef brought very neatly previous rates, the best steers making 21s per 1001 b, while middling and inferior declined 10s a head, ranging from 15s to 17s per 1001 b. For W. Craw (Chori- ; ton), 14 steers sold at £6 10s to £8 7s 6d ; -for- J. H. Hall (Motonau), 6 steers at £8 os to £12 10s, cow at £8 se. and 2 heifers £8 5s- and £9 ; other steers £5 17s 6d to £10 15s, heifers £5 7s 6d to £7. cows £4 7e 6d to £6 10s. Fat Calves. — Met a fair sale at 7e 6d to 60s. Fat Sheep. — There w-as a fair entry. The sale opened at present values. Fat Lambs. — A very goad entry in both numbers and quality, and an animated demand, the prices realised being the best of the season. Good to prime lambs sold from 16s to 18s 2d, one pen at 19s very few light lambs at 14s to 13s 9d'. " m Store Sheep and Lambs.— There was a good yarding, consisting chiefly of lambs. Good forward wethers were in request, at Is advance on previous week's rates; lambs realised recent values. Wethers 16s to 16s lid, backward lls 9d to 14s 7d; lambs 10s 9d to 12s lid backward 9s to 10s 6dj ewes were too few to afford quotations. The principal sales were :— Wethers : 189 at 16s lid, 180 at 16s 2d, 171 at 16s, 59 at 14s 7d, 169 at 14s, 195 at lls 9d; lambs: 86 at 12s lid, 159 (ewes) at 12g Id, 128 (wethers) at 12s, 172 at 11b, 148 at 10s lid, 520 (wethers) at 10s 9d«, 334 (wethers') at 10s 6d, 500 at 9s Id. p IG s. — There' was a good entry of fat pigs. The market for baconere was i steady, but porkers were weaker. 1 Baconers sold at 33s to 455, extra to ; 535, equal to an average of 3£d per lb ; porkers 22s to 30s, or 3^d to 4£d per lb. Stores were all email, and there i was no improvement in the demand.
