Davis (N.S.W.) . . . 42 8 Note. — There were 80-called New Zealand championships held in Auckland by the organisation which styled itself the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, Regd., and which for some time conducted operation^ in the north in opposition to the governinjr body which had' its headquarters in Chrißtchurch. These championships are not inc'.uded in the above table, nor are the Australasian championships decided at Wanganui in 1898 and in Christchurch in 1902. It will be noticed that during many years certain of the championships were not decided, and to ensure a mere regular holding of the events the N.Z.A.A.A. decided in 1904 that in future all championships should ba decided each year 'at one centre and not divided up amongst different clubs, as had been the case previously. The year 1905 marked tho introduction' of this arrangement.
