• c WELLINGTON NOTES. [Pisa. Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 17. At Trentham this morning most of the horses were confined to half and three-quarter work. Achilles and Boris covered a mile on the grass at a fair pace, the former finishing) well, Maui waa in front of Ailea at the end of a six-furlong gallop. Ghoorka was confined to trotting exercise, and Clanchattan went' once round at an easy gait, and was eager to increase the pace. Makaroff, De Witte, Quickfife, Czarevno, To-morrow and Stronghold did easy work. Chivalry finished 1 a mile journey at a good solid pace. At we Hutt* St Lud*_*m went two rounds, sprinting home from the two-furlong post in 80sac. Martian went twice round on the grass, covering the last seven furlongs in lmin 43sec. Putty ran two rounds, at three* quarter pace, and sprinted home nicely. Nightfall and Delaware were- associated. They trotted once round, then hopped off at the seven-furlong post, and ran three furlongs in 39seo, and cantered home. Kaikua and Or- 1 leus ran five furlongs on the grass in 65sec from a flying start. Paritutu and Vladimir ran onoe round inside the course proper in lmin 56seo, the last mile in • lmin 45seo. Paritutu was over a length in front at the finish. Ballarat was in front of Black Reynard at the end of- five furlongs in lmin Sseo. A number of other horses did serviceable work. FOXTON RACING CLUB. CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Jookey Club was held on Tuesday. The following programmes were approved:— North Canterbury Jockey Club, Ellesmere Sports, Waimate Racing Club and Alford Fores* Sports. A request from the Christchurch Raoing Club for the removal of the disqualification of L. G. King was refused. The* jockey's license of J. H. Stephens was reinstated. A gentleman rider's certificate was granted to a. 0. Wilson, trainers' licenses to A. J. McLaughlin and D. J. Prioe, and jockoys' licenses to W. Cooper and R- Webb, the last named subject to the transfer of hi* indentures being completed. J, Smithel s application fox a jookeys license was refused, and several other applications were held over tor inquiry. It was resolved to reoommend the' stewards to appoint two or three of their number to aot as speoial stewards on race days. The fellowing transfers were approved: — -T. H. Lowry to H.
