United Press Association— By Electrio Telegraph — Copyright. (Received Janiiary 17, 10.8 a.m.) LONDON, January 16. Copper.— On spot £79 per ton, three months' £77 17s 6d per ton. Lead. — £16 15s per ton. Spelter.— £2B per ton. Wheat.— About 52,000 quarters of Australian January-February shipment were sold at prices ranging from 31s 6d to 31s 9d per quarter, ahd the Belford cargo at 31s 9d. LONDON WOOL SALES. The National Mortgage and Agency Company has received tho following cable advice regarding the opening or the January series of the London wool sales :—" Market unchanged, merino low, and faulty descriptions weaker tendency.'' Messrs Dalgety and Co., Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, dated January 16 : — " The first series of wool sales opened with a good selection, a large attendance bf buyers and animated competition. Any change in prices of merino wools is in favour of buyers. Any change in prices of fine cross-bred wools is in favour of sellers. Prices of medium and coarse cross-bred wools are at par to 5 per cent lower than closing rates of last series."
