THE PEA-PISTOL ACCIDENT.

[Pan Press Association.] .AUCKLAND, January 17. ! .At the inquest- on Alex Mcs<__ (previoushr called Myers), Roy King, who fired the fatal shot, said that the pistol belonged to his elder brother. He took it from his brother's drawer, to show it to deceased, not knowing that it was ' loaded. It suddenly went off, and ! Moses fell on the floor, and gave some groans. King said, "Oh, Alec, I , couldn't Ifelp it." King was so frightened, that he ran all the way to his uncle's plaoe at Otahuhu — about two hours. The pistol was a 22-calibre toy, but a dangerous one in inexperienced hands. Tho cartridges were those used in an ordinary pea rifle. The found that death was caused h_- a pistol shot, fired by Roy King. The Coroner said it was impossible to bring a charge T>f manslaughter against King, though £•» would probably have been charged ho had been older.
