STRANGLING A WIFE.

♦ VICTIM'S HANDS HELD BY • HER RIVAL. After ten days of intense excitement, the trial for wife murder of a man named Fuscati and his sweetheart and accomplice ended at Florence recently. The murder was effected in a peculiarly treacherous manner. The woman, who passed for & friend of Fuscati's wife, held the victim's hands and talked to her while the husband crept up behind and flung a slip-knot over his* wife's head. Together the husband and fake friend then put their weight on the cord and strangled her. Fuftcati was sentenced to penal servitude for life, and his accomplice to the same punishment for thirteen years. The depraved- cynicism of the male prisoner so enraged the public that several attempts to lynch him after the trial, were only rendered abortive by large' forces of police and soldiers.
