DEMONSTRATIONS IN LONDON.
There were large crowds shouting and cheering in Fleet Street and Kingsway on Saturday evening when the election results were made known. These were announced by flashlights and mechanical devices. Mr Balfour's defeat and Mr Churchill's viotory were the occasions of tumultuous demonstrations. The 1 " Observer" says that Saturday's polling signalises the debacle of the Unionists, and that it is evident the country is for free-trad© and against Mr Chamberlain.' The Labourites and Socialists polled heavily, even when, not returned.
