ACCIDENT TO A PRINCESS.
4 SERIOUS INJURY. On September 14 Princess Isabelle Duchess of Guise met with a serious accident while riding at Abberton, Worcestershire. The Princess, who is a sister of the Duko of Orleans, the Queen of Portugal, and the Duchess of Aosta, was taking exercise with her sister, Princess Louise of Orleans, when her horse stumbled on a loose stone. Her Royal Highness was thrown heavily to the ground, and she had the misfortune to break her left leg. Princessi Louise dismounted immediately and went to the assistance of her sister, who suffered excruciating pain. The district is a lonely one, and there was nobody about to go for a doctor. All that the" ladies could do was to sit by the roadside and wait. Happily they were not kept very long in suspense. Two Birmingham gentlemen, Colonel Ludlow and Mr T. R. Bayliss, were inspecting Abberton Estate when their attention was drawn to two horses which were being led by a labourer. The horses wore side saddles, and one. of the saddles had been wrenched from its position. Colonel Ludlow and Mr Bayliss hurried down the road and saw Princess Louis? supporting Prinoess Isabelle. They sent for "a doctor, and rendered 'first aid to the .Princess, whose pain was considerably relieved thereby. Some time later Dr Forster arrived from Inchbarrow, and set tie broken limb, and th© injured Princess was taken in Mr Baylies' motor-car to Wood Norton, where she has been staying at the Duke of Orleans' house. Further •medical' assistance was summoned from the cottage hospital at Evesham, and three doctors were quickly in attendance. They decided that an operation was necessary, and this was performed. The Princess was reported to be progressing satisfactorily.
