WRECK OF A BARQUE

THE COUNTY OF AYR ASHORE. [Peb Press Association.] DUNEDIN. October 21. .News was received yesterday that the barque County of Ayr, Captain Tulloch, which sailed on Thursday for Lyttelton, with part original cargo from Port Esperance, was/wrecked at the mouth of the Shag TUver, north _of Shag Point, close to where the Italian barque Antioche Accame was wrecked about four years ago. Particulars to hand yesterday were very meagre, and a heavy fog prevented the sending of a tug from Port Chalmers, but as soon as the fog lifted assistance was sent. The Harbour Board's tug" Kcputai picked up the crew of the County of Ayr five miles north by east of Otago Heads, at 5.30 this morning, after the crew had been twenty hours in all open boat, which contained fifteen people. The occupants, including the captain's wife and daughter, were much exhausted. The harbourmaster believes that if the boat had attempted to cross the bar it would have capsized, and all on board would have been lost. The County of Ayr is a total wreck. The vessei was uninsured.
