NELSON'S FLAGSHIP.
REMEMBRANCES AND RELICS Mr James Freyberg, of Wellington, writes to the "Post":— "lt may be of interest to tmy fellowcitizens to know that my unole was one of the heroic- crew on board Nelson's famous ship in the battle of Trafalgar. He fought the fourth gun on the starboard side of the lower deok battery, right to the end of the battle, •and 1 shall never forget the almost royal reception we received when he took me over the famous vessel over forty years ago. It was then used for a training-snip for boys, and I was much amused by seeing some of the lads getting their clothes ready for shore leave. They had washed, their white clothes, which were then rolled up in a " sheet, and a form was turned upside down and a boy sat on it while two fellows pulled it to and fro until the things were sufficiently mangled. My uncle point<»d out a shot-hole made to the right of his gun', that took off the head of one of his crew- The plug in the wood* was visible to everyone. My uncle was only a boy then, but he rose to a distinguished position, and died in. receipt of the extra pay granted to the gallant fellows who . fought that historic battle"
