SENSATION CAUSED BY SIOLEN LETTERS.
A sensation has been caused in 'New York society by an advea-tisemeht published by a detective agency offering £2000 award, and.no questions asked, for the return of a bundle of stolen letters. , -' " r i:b. 9; letters, together with £12 000 worth of jewels and about the same value of securities, have been taken from' the family vault of a well-known member of the Four Hundred. So much importance is attached to the recovery of the letters that the thief is informed he may keep both the jewels and the securities. The detectives suspect a son of the family, but dare not 1 rrest him, as they are attempting to hide the affair from the lady's, husband. It in stated that the .publication of tfle contents of the 'letters would lead .to. the disgrace of the wife and -.her daughters and other women' of the " smart set." ;
