Stanbury has received a cable message from the Mayor of New Westminster, Canada, asking him to defend the championship there. The terms are similar to those offered to Towns, cabled on May 27. Stanbury has not decided yet whether ho will accept the challenge.
(The cable message of Slay 27 ran : — If Towns beats Stanbury in the coming sculling race, he will accept the invitation of the Mayor of New Westminster, British Columbia, to row for the championship and a purse of £500, on tho Fraser River, and the double championship ot the world and a purse of £200, all expenses to be allowed.)
