Tte Norwegian ship Karmo, which was lying in th& stream, was towed out at 9.30 a.m. to-day and set sail for Timaru, where she is to discharge the balance of tl;o cargo of superphospha-es which she brought from Garston.

The s.s. Baden-Powell left for AkaToa via the Bays at 10.30 a.m. to-day. A " Ga-zette " notice states that tho Wellington Harbour Board notifies that the dredge Waaknrira is working to Che southward of Larubton Harbour, at the site of the proposed Clyde Quay wharf, and that masters of/ vessels approaching the Queen's v.-harf and Jervois Quay berths must keep clear of the dredg-e moorings. The Wanganui Harbour Board notifies that it is about to beg-in dredging 1 in the Wanganui River, and that the dredge will be moored in the fairway while the work is progressing. * The time- for vessels entering the port while the dredge is at work will be restricted to one hour before and one hour after high water. It will be remembered that the schooners Konga, Falcon and the ketch Lizzie Taylor left Lyttelton together on the moraine of Sunday, July I<3. bound for jbtavelock. Word has been received that the Ronga outdistanced the others, and arrived last Wednesday evening. The Falcon arrived on xmirsday evening, and the Lizzie Taylor on Friday forenoon. The Honga left again for Ly^telton on Saturday, and the Falcon was to leave for her§ to-day. Eecent^hipping sales at Home include tho German steel ship Lita for £6500, and the iron barque Selkirkshire to Norwegians for about £3300. •

The exceptionally large single-deck turret steamer Qu:da. of 12.000 tons dead-weight capacity, recently completed by Mossrs William. Doxford and Sons for the British India Steam Navigation Company, Limited, cf London, sailed from Middlesbrough on June 3, having the week previous completed a very satisfactory speed trial of twelve knots when leaving Sunderland. The steamer Querimba. the second of these Brit : sh India 12,000-ton turret vessels, was launched by Messrs Dosford and Sons on June 3.

The New Zealand Shipping Company's s.s. .Waimate. now at Napier on hor way to the south from Glasgow aod Liverpool, is still under the command of Captain Forsdick. The deck officers are: — Messrs H. ' The vessel, however, behaved splendidly, and sustained no damage. Messrs Arkell and Douglass, of New York, reporting on the New York. Australian and Aew Zealand trade on June 17. state:— Steamers to Australia and New Zoaiaad— The U.S. and A.S.S. Co. has just despatched the s.s. Briez Huel to Frcmactle, Melbourne, Sydney and New Zeala;nd*ports. The steamer Cufic. it is expected, will go on tho bsrth about the twentieth to twenty-fifth of the present month.' Her discharging porla have been arranged as Fremant!e ; Melbourne and Sydney. This company wii'l load, to follow, the steamship Cape Breton, to g-o on the berth about July 16. She will call at Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbcurne, Sydney and Brisbane. The Oakbnrn will follow, Augusb loading; ports of destination not yet settled. The Tyser line is advertising tho steamship Indradevi to go on the berth shortly, sailing probably about July 15 to SO. She will call, as usual, at Melbourne, Sydney and Now Zealand ports. The A. ai?<3 A. line advertised the Osweatry Grange, probably for tho five Australian ports; but sho may call at New Zealand ports. This vessel's arrival, however, in New York is uncertain, and it is doubtful if she would rail before, the end of July, or even later. The freicht market is dull, and no large amounts of; cargo axe pressing at the moment for shipment.
