The police have received a letter from a friend vt r ho was present at M'Donald's house at the time Constable O'Brien was called in. Tho wvitor states that h& was in the room during the whole time Constable O'Brien remained/ and heard all that passed. He alleges that Constable O'Brien never made use of tho expressions attributed in the evidence given by Mrs M J Donald before the Police Commission at Oamaru, in regard to irregularities in the force. The writer adds that he must have heard anything that passed regarding the matter, and that several other persons were present at the time.
