Dowridge, the clever .amateur feather-weight of Queensland, who won the Australasian championship last year, again carried off the championship of Queensland at the annual tournament' on July 3. Neither Brown (bantam) nor Bagley (light) competed, but both will probably endeavour to secure places in the team that will represent Queensland in the Australasian championships. 'The Sydney "Sportsman" contains some very severe remarks on the conduct of the Sydney National Sporting Club, arising out of alleged incidents in connection with a recent contest carried out by the club. If the facts are as stated, and the criticism just, yet another instance is given of ,the necessity for a proper control being placed over the sport — the sort of control that the Wellington Association, in its ignorance, says is not wanted. Two old-timers in Jem Mace and " Tug " Wilson sparred three rounds at Wonderland,* London, on May 28. "Tug" Wilson was the first man to stay four round? with John L.
