A Riga-Kherson Company has qndefw taken the construction <?f th« Bl»ck Sea and Baltio ship cana]. It will be 140 ft broad and 31ft deep, and will take five years to make. The cost will be fort^ million sterling, (TJie connecting of the two peas by a ship canal is no new project. The total distance from sea to sea is 1000 miles, and the idea, in brief, is to utilise the rivers Dnieper and Dwina ' at each end, a connecting link being formed by the rivers Lu,tsobeza and Orschiza, and a new oanal of twelve miles in length.) . ;
