In the House of Commons Earl Percy, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in reply to a question, said that examination was being made into Britishers' claims in Samoa, and steps would be taken to pay rightful olaim-
ants.
(The award of King. Oscar of Sweden as io the claims of . residents in the islands on account of the fighting -in 1899 was given in October, 1902, and found the British and United States Governments responsible for the losses sustained.)
