BOXING.
The first of the season's competitions will take place at Ashburton on May 11 and 12, under the control of the South Canterbury Boxing Association. There are five events on the programme, two being for novices and the others local championships. Tbe promoters have selected a good time. for. their tournament, as the town will be filled with sportsmen attending tho races. The Canterbury Boxing Association's annual local championship 'tournament will be held at the Theatre Royal, Christchurch, on June 19 and 20, not on June 20 and 22, as originally announced. The theatre is not available for the latter dates. t \ This season the New Zealand championships will be held" in Wellington, under the management of tbe Welling- ' ton Boxing Association. The place and dates are not yet decided upon^ as the committee appointed to arrange preliminaries has the choice of two buildi__s. It is imperative tbat the championships should be held in the last week of June or the first week of July, as the New Zealand representatives to. compete in the Australasian championships at Brisbane must leave _.ot later than July 29.
