LAWSON VERSUS RUTT

Ivor Lawson, the American champion cyclist and winner of the 1904 World's Professional Two-kilometre Championship, easily defeated Walter Rutt, the German rider, in a series of test matches. Lawson later on broke the world's record for one mile, covering the distance in lmin 47 4-ssec.
Keen inteerst is being -shown in the Tai Tapu Road Race, whioh takes plaoe on January 13. The distance is ten miles, and intending competitors have been in hard training. Forty-one nominations have been received. ibe prizes are as follow :— First prize £5, second prize £2, third prize £1 ; fastest time; one set Dunlop tyres donation prize, Dunlop Tyre Company, and C. M. Suckling, £3 2s ; fastest unplaced time, consolation prize, £1.
