The Pennsylvania Railroad Company has made a new departure. The increasing scarcity of timber suitable for railway ties and the failure of substitutes fo» wood in the roadbed have led the company into a forestry experiment. One hundred acres of land have been planted with 50,000 young locusts. The locust is a rapid' grower, and, moreover, the timber is durable under the exposed conditions of ties. The company intends to plant 2000 acres of grounds in locusts to provide for future i construction, and renewal of its roadbed 1 .

SERIOUS CONSIDERATION. NO MAN IS SAFE who has Rupture, no matter how insignificant he may consider it; for every man who has died from it once flattered himself that it was but a trifling ailment; and every man who nqw suffers from it and the injury of trusses to such an extent that his life has.no enjoyments, once regarded it as un worthy of • special attention. Remember, it is not s amiotion; it is steadily progressive, even unto death, and .he ia wise wiho takes the necessary steps to be effectually r«}ieved of it before the day of suffering and gloom come* upon him. • It should not be regarded in any stage with indifference, as serious consequences may result from it at any time. He should take . warning fiom the example of others, and not meet with death through strangulated rupture, as Gibbon, tie great English historian, did, notwithstanding his" great for»ight and talents.- An opportunity is now granted to the suffering oiproour- ' ing tie MOST RELIABLE TREATMENT KNOWN IN THE WORLD for the RAM-' CAL CURB OF RUPTURE.
